So what does this amount of disk space mean in terms of the number of products that can be stored/displayed on a website shop? Well, it very much depends on the type of products sold and how detailed (large in size) the product images are. Using actual live sites to get figures, 35Mb can store 1,400 products, whereas on another site 140Mb is used to store 1,200 products. As may be seen even the Starter package above has sufficient space to display a wide product range.
Similarly, it is not possible to put accurate figures on what capacity of any given bandwidth will be used, however 500Mb will easily cover 10,000 pages/month, for a typical ecommerce site.
The above represents the starting limits for any given package and can be raised to suit the needs of a particular site. Hosting only plans can be negotiated with a startup fee, to create an initial e-commerce web shop/store. This charge is normally waived when a maintenance plan is chosen (excludes mid to large-scale setups). A choice of default e-commerce installations can be started in minutes, with the help of an automated Softaculous script - see below.
Normally, a client would choose to use their own domain name (at their expense) but a range of predefined sub-domain names can be used. This is particularly suitable for a starter/trial site, to limit the initial cost.

Simple e-commerce InstallationUsing Softaculous to assist in the setting up procedure, it's possible to have your online store up and running within a couple of minutes. This is available to all the above plans, including the hosting only options. Current choices in no particular order are: osCmax, Zencart, Freeway, osCommerce, OpenCart, PrestaShop, CubeCart. You could start with a hosting only plan, to try out these packages, select one, then opt for a maintenance plan at a later stage, for example. Note: support for Freeway, OpenCart and CubeCart will be nowhere near as extensive as for the other packages. |
